First Half of Fall Semester 2009

Time to catch up! So after the honeymoon was over and all of the fun celebrations we knew real life had to begin. We were actually really excited to get back into the swing of things until the cold and homework hit us.

When we got up to Idaho we were assistant managers at Camden BYU-I girls housing. We stayed there for just about a month until Brendi, Rusty, and the kids moved back to California. We took over their management position and the house that came with it (Thank you Scott and Sherri!). We are so lucky to have room to fit all of our things in one place and trust me we have a lot of things : ) We de-junked a lot when we moved in but I think Matt is still amazed at the amount of kitchen supplies that I have. It has been really fun making our first real home together! I will post pictures later. Here are a couple of picture of some decorating that Matt did while we were unpacking : ) If you can't tell our walls are covered in sports paraphernalia... he was really sad when I took it down.

As far as school goes, Matt is keeping super busy with his Accounting and Spanish classes. He is getting really good grades, which we decided was from being married and anti-social : ) just joshin'! He is doing really well though. I am taking two nursing classes and so it would be pretty embarrassing if I did poorly in those. It has been super nice because I don't go to class more than once every two weeks. I have my last class of the semester tomorrow! I really like on-line classes.
With work we have both been trying to figure out this managing thing and the best way to get everything done. We are both bugging Brendi and Rusty a ton but I think we are starting to get a good hang of it. Matt has a new opinion about the single girls at BYU-I and is, thank goodness, very glad that he is married : ) They keep him busy. I am attempting to look for an RN job when I get sometime away from the house, but there hasn't been much success. I am planning on searching in Idaho Falls when I get a free day.
We are having a good share of fun so far. Two weeks into the semester, before Idaho froze over, we went on a camping trip with the Valentine boys, Cameron, Court, his date Hayley and a couple of my roommates Joy and Haylee. It was a ton of fun! We made tinfoil dinners and ate them with wooden silverware that the boys carved for us (we forgot forks) and we roasted stuff over the fire. The next day we all hiked up to the Wind Caves and did a little spelunking! It was the most intense caving I have ever done! There were a lot of really narrow tunnels that you had to wiggle through on your back and there was a big hole that the boys repelled down and climbed back up in order to get to the back of the caves where there is a big waterfall. The girls stayed behind because we were pretty scared of Cameron's special repelling gear. It was all really pretty and way nice to do just before the Winter hit.

Matt, Court, Cameron, Ben, and Adam formed a flag football team this Fall with a couple of their buddies. It was really fun to go watch even though I didn't know what was going on half of the time. Matt scored a lot of touchdowns and he says I missed them all because twice I was late to the game but really I was probably there I just couldn't tell exactly when he did touchdown : ) (He is teaching me). They are finished now with the games but I think they are glad because it is getting extremely cold at night lately. We are really dreading the snow : (((

Okay, I have to post this one special picture in here about Adam Valentine's birthday. They tied these two helium balloons to go under his chin and they sang him a birthday song! I couldn't stop laughing and had to take a picture so here it is! I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did!

Matt and I had our first Halloween together a couple of weeks ago : ) We carved pumpkins and on Halloween night we watched a really silly scary movie and handed out candy to the little kids that came to our door. They were SO CUTE!!! I think my favorite was this little girl that came in a fluffy triceratops costume! (Okay I just realized that the Sarah from Land Before Time probably came from the fact that she was a tri-CERA-tops! Haha!)
Okay one last funny picture. Matt and I have been trying to eat really healthy since it seems to be come that we people get married they care less and eat more. So we have been having fun experimenting with new things like this mini George Foreman grill that we got from Wal-Mart. Matt really likes it : ) Don't worry those burgers were like 2% fat and they are delicious!

Our Honeymoon!!!

The day after our wedding we liesurely get to the airport and get on our flight at about midday. We arrive in Florida after dark and crash at our hotel. We get to the cruise port and wait in the very long line and then we are in. Complete relaxation for the rest of the week : ) Our biggest worry was, "What beach do we want to stop at?" It was loads of fun. We first stopped at Grand Cayman on our third day on the boat. It was really fun exploring the island on our little yellow scooter. We say some 4ft. fish that blended in with the water. It was pretty fun because they would get really close to your. We also saw a couple of those lizard things that are on Rescuers Down Under. Well, that's what they looked like; they weren't that big though. Wednesday was a Handuran Island called Isle Hoatan. We went to Tabayana beach and it was really nice. They tended to it well. Matt and I saw some pretty great views, especially of the foreign cruise workers playing volleyball : ) Matt really enjoyed that. But for really, we saw some really cool fish and coral. The next day was our least favorite. We went to Beliz. It was some of the most beautiful jungle and we really enjoyed the bus ride right by it. That was probably the best part of the day though. We went on this excusion that was way overpriced and kind of silly. We did some mild caving and some zip-line through the jungle. The zip-line was fun, but we were expecting something with a little more adventure. The last port day was our favorite. We stopped at Cozamel looking to rent an ATV to go through the jungle, but that didn't look very possible. So for about $10-20 more dollars we rented a jeep instead and drove up the coast line. We saw some pretty views and found a few places to stop. This one bech that we found was super nice (touristy) and we thought we were going to just snorkel by the beach and do our own exploring. Well, the prettiest thing I saw was a pile of broken conche shells that looked like they had algae growing all over them. We talked to some of the guys on the beach and they said that you have to take a boat out to see the good stuff. We thought they were kind of pulling our legs but the price wasn't ridiculous so we decided to do it. The local boaters told us we would see rays, sea turtles, barracuda, and sharks. We didn't think we would see all of that because you know sometime people tend to oversell their product. Well they undersold it! It was a blast! We saw two turtle, lobster, two sharks, Matt saw two barracuda, and we saw one ray. It was probably the coolest thing we did on our trip. We found a really good Mexican resturant and we got some real enchiladas (Matt had to have me experience them). They were delicious. The salsa for the chips was so hot though that I had to drink two bottles of water and one soda to stop the burning. I'm not just a wimp either, Matt was right behind me : ). The rest of the weekend we chilled, played more hand and foot than I ever have in my life and ate tons of soft-serve icecream cones ( I didn't quite fit as well in my dress for the Openhouse afterwards...wups!). We had such a good time with each other and we were all rested up to come back into reality.

The Beginning of It All

Hey everyone, so this is our first post on our new little blogspot! We figured everyone would be wanting to see pictures and wondering how things are going. So here it is!
Starting with the wedding: Everything went according to plan even the blistering heat : ) It is all a blur except for the actual sealing (which I guess is a good thing). It was so much fun to have so many of our favorite people there all at the same time! We had a blast the day before with family and friends at Sunsplash! The next day started late with us going to the temple in the afternoon. It started out in a frenzy with leaving our marriage license at home then getting a camera speeding ticket while rushing home to get it : ) (we found this out later of course). Now we have a really cute picture of Matt and I in our car driving down Lindsay Rd. Matt decided that it would be a funny thing to keep. The sealing was perfect. We took too many pictures outside the temple and then headed off to Thai food, which was delicious all except the free spring rolls : ) Then, there were more pictures at the reception hall, which was all outside again... The rest of the reception was great. Everything turned out to be so beautiful! After the night was over we were glad to rest our smiles and relax. We had a bunch of nice surprises for us when we got to our car. Thanks Everyone!!!!!!
